Waffle on Consistency

Over on the waffle blog, Jesper writes about custom UI widgets which (almost) look like, but don't quite behave like standard widgets. If a widget's appearance implies consistency, its behaviour must be consistent with the host OS so as not to confuse users. Otherwise, users become insecure and stop trusting your application.
